Aus Ships Group Delivers Yasawa Flyer III, Fiji’s Largest New-Build Fast Ferry

Aus Ships Group is proud to announce the successful design, construction, and delivery of the Yasawa Flyer III for South Sea Cruises. Built at our Brisbane shipyard and delivered on time and on budget, the new vessel represents a major milestone in fast-ferry innovation for the South Pacific.

With capacity for 320 passengers, Yasawa Flyer III is the largest new-build fast ferry ever to operate in Fiji. The vessel will depart daily from Port Denarau, continuing South Sea Cruises Group’s long-standing tradition of connecting travellers to the Yasawa Islands — a service they pioneered in the early 2000s.

Designed for Comfort, Safety, and an Enhanced Passenger Experience

The new vessel sets a new benchmark for passenger comfort in Fiji’s marine tourism sector. Guests onboard will enjoy:

  • Expansive outdoor viewing decks
  • Custom-designed seating for long-range comfort
  • Spacious, air-conditioned lounges
  • A licensed bar and kiosk
  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
  • Device charging stations

Yasawa Flyer III is also the first vessel in Fiji to feature a full ride-control system, significantly reducing vessel motion and enhancing stability — even in challenging sea conditions.

A Step Forward in Marine Sustainability

Sustainability played a key role in the vessel’s design and engineering. Powered by the latest MAN engines, Yasawa Flyer III delivers:

  • ~10% improved fuel efficiency compared to similar-sized vessels
  • ~20% fuel savings per passenger on a full-load basis

These gains are supported by a modern, hydrodynamically efficient hull form that reduces both energy consumption and wake generation, minimising environmental impact across its daily operations.
